*Note* If you would like to skip the hassle of the opening screens, you may search your tachyon directory for a file called Space.exe. If you run this file it will take you directly the the game. Also, If you are having troubles with the space.icd error, I suggest that you try this solution.

All the above information is what I have gleaned off of the message boards all over that tachyon community, Primarily www.tachyon.8k.com. The members who have posted these problems and solutions are too many to list.

In Tachyon setup in 'video setup' the program says 'no 3d device detected'... i installed drivers of 2-2000.. can you tell me what to do or where *exactly* can i find the latest drivers?

Just open up tachyon.cfg search for the line HARDWARE set it to 1 (it will use your video card) then HW_TYPE set to 2 (as far as I remember its for glide based cards)

How do I fix this?

The best solution that I have come across is to just reinstall tachyon. Also, If you are using a free ISP such as Altavista or Netzero, this will happen all the time. If you cannot afford an ISP I suggest that you go to www.freewwweb.com. At this location you may get free internet access without annoying banner adds or advertisements. If free ISP is what you are using either start paying for a regular or go to freewwweb.

If you click on a game to join and it says you have some sort of space error or illegal oporation it's beacause you're probably going on the internet through a proxy server. Tachyon dosn't support proxy servers so use the actual computer your using for a server to go into Tachyon multiplayer games. It worked for me.

I cannot play Tachyon online because my internet connection goes through a proxy server. I know the settings for the server, but Tachyon doesn't seem to have a place to put that information in. Does anyone know of a way to play Tachyon on the internet through a proxy server?

Try using sockscap. It has proxy 4 and 5 support. You can get it from tucows (www.tucows.com) or winfiles (www.winfiles.com). Its easy enough to use and it should get you through the proxy. Side Note: Tachyon has no support for proxies.

I have just got Tachyon and I have to say that it is amazingly good. However, the one little niggle is that I don't seem to be able to use the throttle wheel on my MS Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick, or it's Z-axis (roll left + right). This is not the biggest problem ever but it is irritating me a bit now so i would appreciate it if anyone could tell me of a solution.

Check to see if Throttle is enabled in the options section of Tachyon. *no other solution on file*

Question: Strange Joystick problem

This is actually not a big problem, but from time to time my joystick (Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro / USB) gets a little 'out of sync'. If this happens, my ship is permanently spinning around it's X-axis and I have to quit the game and restart my computer. I am using the newest joystick-drivers though. Does this happen to anyone else in this sector?

I personally dont have this problem but I have seen it happen a few times. A pilot named Darkwolf i think jumped into the Arena match while I was there and was flying around when he suddenly started spinning around in a circle. Only reason I can think of is that something happened with the calibration so the computer thinks that the stick is being turned in that direction, don't kow what would cause it though.

After the intro Tachyon launches into the program.. after a few distorted images, it freezes. I think it's a driver/video card problem. I have an ATi Rage Fury with the latest release driver or a Stealth Diamond III Extreme.

In order to get it to run you need to go into the tachyon.cfg file and change the this setting.

It enables the game to use your cards open_GL drivers, but I have found that it is very slow (but faster then software emulation) You may have better luck.

Hopefully Novalogic will fix the problem with the D3D on the Stealth III, but I doubt it as they have yet to send me a reply otherwise. So my only hope to play the game the way it should is to either get a different Video card, or hope Diamond makes better Open_GL drivers for the Savage chipset (Don't hold your breath on that one S3 has a hystory of dropping support for chipsets once the next generation is out and it is.)

I have trouble running Tachyon with my 3d Blaster Savage 4 When I start the game I hear some sound from the mainmenu then it crashes...I never even see the mainmeu this is with the latest demo. I couldent run the previus demos ei
